Hi there,
I am Abdullah. I am from Turkey and I live in Madrid. I am co-running Madrid Comedy Lab, the first English speaking comedy club in Madrid and when possible I am touring with Xavi Jallois in Spain (hopefully this season in Europe).

I shared some of my jokes online. You can find my favorites here: Being Turkish Abroad, Unlearning Spanish and My Name.
What do I do in Spain?
I came to Spain to study and then to work in finance. I was hitting some open mics from time to time, but I never had the idea of doing comedy full-time. After performing in cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Berlin, in 2023 I decided to run a show myself—hence, Madrid Comedy Lab was born. My goal was to have 50 audience members every month so that I could have enough people to keep the shows running twice a month. That show sold out almost every week, and a few months in, Xavi offered to run another show together.
A year later, we opened the city’s first and only English-speaking comedy club. That led me to get the artist visa in Spain and quit my day job to pursue stand-up comedy full-time.* Since then, I have been performing almost every night at the club, experimenting with ideas and making them funny. The club has become a space for upcoming comedians like myself to hone our craft and grow as performers. With 25–30 shows every month and hundreds of audience members, it has also evolved into a community for so many people in Madrid.
In 2024, Xavi and I started touring in Spain. We did 20+ shows in 10 cities and sold out almost every single one of them.
I would love to connect and collaborate on some projects. If you think this is a good idea, you can contact me at abdullah(at)madridcomedylab.com.
